Southeast Florida presents the most complex political landscape in the state. Of 9 congressional districts, Republicans currently hold 4 seats — FL-26 (Mario Díaz-Balart, Hialeah/NW Miami-Dade), FL-27 (María Elvira Salazar, Little Havana & Brickell), and FL-28 (Carlos A. Giménez, Florida Keys & South Miami-Dade) anchor GOP strength in Miami-Dade, with FL-21 (Brian Mast) holding the Treasure Coast. FL-20 (Broward Central) became vacant on April 21, 2026 following Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick's resignation, with a special election to be scheduled. Democrats hold the remaining Broward, Palm Beach, and west-Broward/Miami-Dade seats, but shifting voter registration trends in Miami-Dade continue to make this region increasingly competitive for Republicans.
